Posing for images can be difficult and awkward 99.9% of the time! As individuals, we tend to look "tense" and "robotic" by not knowing where to place our hands, how to stand, or what to even do with our body during photography sessions. I speak from experience as someone who had the same problem "trying to look effortlessly" in images. We all see images of families and couples and think, "Well, how do they look so relaxed?!"

Well, I'm here to fill you in on some little secrets to make you more comfortable, relaxed, and actually have fun during your photography sessions!

Tips on Looking Relaxed

  1. Just Be Yourself - You don't need to be serious or overthink during your photography sessions. Be yourself and have fun with it.
  2. Keep Moving - Let go of any stiff posing. Keep moving around! Walk, sit, smile, hug your loved ones, hold hands, run, etc. Moving around can add those special moments that capture the organic essence of you.
  3. No Expectations - We set subconscious expectations of what we hope our images will reflect. Let go of those expectations! Have fun, relax, and be yourself. There is no such thing as the "perfect picture".
  4. Remember To Breathe - Take a deep breathe and relax! This helps calms the nerves and anxiety during a photo session.
  5. Have Fun! - It's not a job interview. No need to be serious and stiff. Have fun, get silly, and be yourself!
